Excess excretion or extra exercises that leads to abnormal increase in Vata dosha. 2. Regular Abnormal and oily food items which leads to production of Aama. The above causes lead to production of viciated Vatadosh and Aams This gets collected and starts moving through the blood vessels and spreads all over the body. Menopausal syndromeMenopause happens. It’s a natural transition, says ayurveda, and like all transitions, menopause has to be managed to minimize discomfort. Why menopause discomfort occurs ?Since menopause is the transition from the Pitta phase of life to the Vata phase, if a woman already has a significant Pitta or Vata imbalance in the years before menopause, things are likely to get worse during menopause, which is a period when hormonal and other natural changes take place in the body. Another factor leading to menopausal imbalances is the accumulation of digestive impurities (ama) in the physiology. Ama blocks the channels that transport nutrition to the cells and remove waste from the body, and thus contributes to menopausal problems. A third factor is the misuse or overuse of the mind, body, emotions, or senses much ongoing stress or pressure, or is doing work that is too “heavy” for her body, or is under tremendous emotional stress. Joints SystemThe Ayurvedic perspectiveAyurveda identifies two major types of joint problems. The first type is associated with poorly nourished joints or low bone density and overall weakness in the joints. This kind of problem starts with some discomfort, a cracking sound, and if not taken care of, results in eventual immobilization of the joints. Because the bone is not getting the nourishment it needs, it starts to degenerate. The second kind is associated with a toxins in the body. As ama (the sticky, toxic waste-product of incomplete digestion) accumulates in the joint, it first creates stiffness and heaviness. If it stays there for a long time, the joint can become swollen and painful. Damp, cold weather can aggravate this type of joint problem. Vata related joint problem Ama-related joint problem Immunity System Ways to boost natural Immunity Everyone is more susceptible to respiratory problems when the seasons are changing, such as in the fall and early spring. This is because the body functions differently in each season, and in the transition between the hot and cold seasons the agni, or digestive fire, can start to fluctuate dramatically. If you do not adjust your diet and routine and follow the ayurvedic guidelines for the seasonal transitions, you can build up ama. Once the body is fertile for disease, it is easy for a cold or flu to sprout, as in the seed and land theory mentioned earlier. That is why respiratory illnesses and allergies abound in the fall and early spring. In the early spring, there is an added factor, because ama accumulated during the winter starts to melt, flooding the micro-channels and overloading the immune system. The body’s immune system is weakened, and becomes a fertile ground for bacteria and allergens.
